ECGC Country Risk Classification
The ECGC Country Risk Classification List is issued by the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC) to assess and classify the risk levels associated with exporting to various countries. It helps exporters and banks evaluate the likelihood of payment default due to economic, political, or other risks.
Here's what the terms mean:
- MLT (Medium and Long Term) List – Covers risk assessment for credit transactions with a medium to long-term repayment period (more than one year).
- ST (Short Term) List – Covers risk assessment for short-term transactions (typically up to one year).
- Letter to Banks – Official communication to banks regarding updated country risk classifications.
- Letter to Policy Holders – Official communication to ECGC policyholders (exporters with ECGC coverage) regarding updated country risk classifications.
- Revised Country Risk Classification – Indicates an update or change in the classification based on new economic or geopolitical developments.
- w.e.f (With Effect From) – Denotes the date when the classification comes into effect.
